Ohhhhhmygoodness. That is awesome. "Hoverpeds" are definitely on the "what we will do if we ever have a larger budget" list. In fact, they are the second thing on the list. Another 10 mockup pages? w00t!

Graphic Novel: Update #27

Now introducing the London Underground's patented Moped with Jet Engine™. It's not really in the book, though. Some things just need to be drawn.Needless to say, I'm enjoying myself. I worked out another ten mock-up pages, and worked out a few more storyboard issues I was having with the end of the book. "Slow and steady wins the race", says me Pa.Branson AndersonSee More

Presented is another sample page from the graphic novel mock-up. This week we highlight another fight scene. The book will have a lot of grodiness and texture, but it is also complimented by some swooshy delicacy, as demonstrated on this page.

Over the last couple weeks I’ve revisited my storyboarding and dialogue to make some revisions. It was also my intention to finish off the… Continue

Graphic Novel: Update #24

When I first started work on the graphic novel, I read a couple graphic novels that seemed interesting and used that as my point of departure. It was good: they taught me a couple fundamental lessons about comic structure. But recently I started reading comic book theory, and my head exploded. Folk like Scott McCloud and Will Eisner have analyzed their craft and written fantastically interesting books that not only break down the logic of the… Continue

Graphic Novel: Update #23

Posted on November 29, 2008 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I've continued mock-up work, albeit slowly this week. I've had major school projects, and once those lift off of my plate, I'll be able to put in some full work days on the novel. I'm looking forward to laying down many pages and getting this project further down the road.

It is difficult to balance school projects and mock-up work, but I think it's a good thing, because they enrich each other. When I'm drawing the mock-up, my… Continue
