The Producer's Report #159 | Giving A Goose

This is a Project London behind the scenes featurette! It details how we brought The Goose, the featured lifter in the movie, to life. The Goose started out as a Vietnam War era Choctaw Helicopter that we shot in a hanger at Paine Field (Everett, WA). But that was only the…

The Producer's Report #154 | It's Go Time!

It's been awhile since we talked. Sorry about that. We've been immensely busy, dealing with crashed edit systems and laptops, ramping up color correction and the final work on the soundtrack. And today, I'm really pleased to say that we are making great progress to finish the movie!

On the color correction side of things, Barry Gregg…

The Producer's Report #153 | Moving Forward Again!

The edit system is working again! I've output uncompressed AVI files for Barry Gregg and will be meeting him at Starbucks in Edmonds (Washington, USA) in a couple hours to hand him a 2TB hard drive with the movie, Spiral's Blackmagic Design Ultrascope, and our best wishes for a efficient and fun color correction. Yeah! Big step.

Getting that edit system repaired (again) was frustrating and time…

The Producer's Report #152 | Edit System Crash Part 2

Dang nab it. We were chugging along and then crash. The little battery on the edit system motherboard needed replacing, so I replaced it. But in the process of removing and replacing the Blackmagic card to gain access and replace the little battery, the card was fried. So dang. We have a replacement Blackmagic card on order. It should be here…

The Producer's Report #143

The image above is from the epic battle in the first act of Project London. It features animations by Ian Hubert and Nathan Taylor that are singularly epic. Also, this is the image the Wired UK featured in their recent full page article about Project London. Pretty cool.

Well, I just finished up a meeting with Ian, Nate and Wesley. We reviewed a number of…

The Producer's Report #142 - Wired UK!

(L to R: Nathan McCoy, executive producer; Ian Hubert, writer director; Wesley Slover, composer producer; Kyle Kramer, lead sound editor)

Thursday, I was able to snag a couple copies of the July issue of Wired UK! (You can get a copy at Bulldog News in the U-District if you're local, or at Barnes & Noble.) We felt like Steve Martin's character in the comedy movie, The Jerk" when the new phone books arrived, "Now we're legit!"

But there is a…

The Producer's Report #140 - Sweet Find!

Yesterday morning's Sound Design Review Meeting was FANTASTIC! Scott Burnett, soundtrack/score producer, was in attendance along with Wesley Slover, musician/artist. Nate, Ian and I listened to a slew of new sound design elements and a slug of musical cues from Wesley's vault. It was FANTASTIC! I remember having tears in my eyes listening to the track that underscored the Nebraska character experiencing a sudden and tremendously huge loss and feeling the loss on a new level because…

The Producer's Report #140 - Dirty Do Gooders!

I love this frame grab. It's the result of a LOT of hard work done by a lot of people over a significant period of time. The foreground features Josh Truax (Nebraska Higgins) and Branson Anderson (Jerry) filmed in an Everett airpline hanger in August of '07 and the background plate with Michael Donovan (Arizona Higgins) emanating from a large outdoor video billboard was shot just a couple months ago. The work is…
