Let me just say: RAD.
So this past Saturday, while I was at the 2012 San diego Comic-Con, I had the incredible privilege to attend the Sneak Preview screening of Project London.
There were more than 100 victims people present at the event. Some of those people arrived early in expectation of the film which was screening after ours. But during the course of the film, these unsuspecting attendees quickly became fans.
While the film played, I witnessed the following events:
(not necessarily in this order)
-Cheering
-Laughter
-Explosions
-Someone yelling "NOOOOOOO" in anguish during a heart-wrenching scene
-Awesome Music
-Stunned Silence
-The End Of The Film
-The End Of Your Planet (by way of eating)
-Loud Applause
-Bright Lights
-More Explosions
At the end of the screening, I loudly announced to the crowd (all of whom stayed even past the end of the credits) that they should visit the website and spread the word.
I was approached post-film by Bob Forward, who curates the stock footage site "Detonation Films." He shook my hand and told me that he had very thoroughly enjoyed watching. He also mentioned that he was glad to see some of his explosions used in such an excellent way. Note that I'm paraphrasing here. Note that by "here" I was referring to the comments from Bob. Note that you already knew that. Stop noting my notes here.
For me, the event was the glorious culmination of years of anticipation and work (I started helpoing with the VFX in 2007). Often when you've invested so much time and effort into any project, it's tough to enjoy it as much as someone who sees only the result. But in this case, I felt only satisfaction and pride for our team.
We really had a stellar crew of volunteers on this film, and the combined efforts of ALL THE PEOPLE resulted in a really wonderful film. Additionally, I'm pretty much blown away (pun intended) by the sheer quantity of awesomeness in the final product. I am honored to have been a part of this process.
Now that the film has had a chance to nibble on the planet, everyone had better brace themselves for the release, at which point the planet should be rather thoroughly consumed.
And before you ask, the exact details of the release are still being hammered out. Sign up for the email list at http://projectlondonmovie.com/ to get updates as we near the end!
GET PUMPED.

Here's a picture of the portion of attendees who were still present when I remembered to try to take a group photo.
The guy in front apparently didn't survive the awesomeness.

Comment by Nate Taylor on July 16, 2012 at 3:57pm My pleasure! It was a complete blast to attend the event. I roped my pals in the area into attending as well, and they seemed to feel similarly :D

Nate, thanks so much for being our Ambassador to San Diego.
